The wrong finger

My son has taken to pointing with the wrong finger. You know, the one in the middle. He doesn’t know that he shouldn’t – well, he does now because we told him. But he doesn’t want to give people the finger. It’s just that naturally, when he wants to point, that’s the finger that comes up. Every single time.

We are trying to curb that bad habit, but it’s hard!

Now let’s just hope he won’t start chanting “phoque, phoque, phoque” (the French word for seal, but yes, it does sound the way you think) all the time like he did last night. I swear it made sense in context: he had shaped a seal in play-doh, or at least he had decided that the lump of play-doh he was playing with was a seal. But I can already see the look on the face of the teachers at preschool if he does it there…
